This extra fine baby merino wool is spun in Italy with fibers from sheep raised on the meadows of Geelong, Australia. Only a small percentage of all Merino lambswool can be classified as Geelong due to its fine micron, making it an exclusive and desirable fibre. Compared to worsted wool, this yarn is bulkier and softer in appearance due to a particular spinning technique that involves carding the fibers so they criss-cross one another. The result is a lighter, softer and warmer yarn.
Supporting traditional skills
The process of making this high quality yarn involves time consuming slow techniques, which are evolved and harnessed over centuries. This way of doing production supports craftsmanship that in many parts of our world are about to be forgotten.
