How it's made
Excellent working condition
This product is created in Indoi’s family workshop in Karachi, and each garment is made with pride. The label only employs skilled craftswomen and men who are getting fair pay for their work. They are exceptional local tailors, pattern cutters, stitchers and embroiderers, and many of them have been working with this workshop for over thirty years. Each one takes the utmost care, pride and pleasure in their work.
Supporting traditional skills and craftsmanship
The whole process of Indoi is connected to craft, and celebrates the rich heritage of the Indus Valley, which has a rich artisan tradition and is known for its exquisite craftsmanship for millennia. The garments tell the story of the people here, their legacy, and a family, especially the women, whose strength, grace and individuality set them apart.
Each item is of exceptional quality, inspired by these women and crafted with the utmost care, so that you might share their story.
The raw silk is made in Pakistan, using hand-spun yarns. This technique yields very subtle imperfections and distinctions in each piece, which adds to the beauty and individuality of the fabric.
Supporting women
Mallika, the founder of Indoi, has been working closely with her aunt, Maheen Khan, in the development of her company. She is a master of embroidery and pattern cutting, and it is in her workshop in Karachi that each piece is crafted. Indoi is rooted in this support and celebration of the women. Mallika is of Iranian Bangladeshi descent, with heritage in Burma, India and Pakistan and are preceded by a line of extremely strong-willed women who have broken boundaries, showed immense strength and escaped their traditional paths for want of something else. Something different. Something exciting.
