Portuguese grain leather
How it's made
Excellent working conditions
Every piece is made by one crafter from beginning to end, and the name of this artisan is engraved in the leather inside your bag. The workshop in Portugal is a slow and high-quality based production site, where makers are more than workers, they are artist and their expertise is highly valued.
Supporting traditional Skills
The handcrafting involved in making these bags, are old and important to preserve. Doing things in a slow way, makes the value of each piece higher. It is touched and cared for, and every piece is, though made with excellent craftsmanship, slightly different from the other.
Chemicals used in the production are minimal, and all use is controlled in regards to storing and disposal in a proper manner, following European laws and requirements. Anna, founder of No/An Studio wants to change up her leather to vegetable tanned process, but there’s still not possible to do this without compromising quality in the long run or to end up making a lot of leather waste in the process.
The origin of the raw material in this bag is surplus material from the food industry. All parts of the animals where used in food production or other purposeful production chain.
Low Carbon Footprint
This products leaves a small carbon footprint in the production process. The leather and production is collected in Portugal, and the storage is within Europe, in Belgium and Finland.
