Raffia will tolerate some rain, but do not let it soak in water. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry to moist, soft cloth. If your bag become very wet, stuff it with tissue paper and leave it to dry naturally away from any direct heat or light.
Raffia is a natural palm, it gets smoother with time and it really does last for a long time. Le Mogador doesn’t want to use the synthetic fiber which is often used instead of raffia. It is for sure softer, but doesn’t last as long.
