Excellent working conditions
This product is handcrafted on demand by designer Eileen herself, or by one of the tailors in her team, in their studio in Chinatown, New York. Each garment is made with pride, and everyone involved in the making gets fair pay for their work.
Supporting Traditional Skills
By doing all work in-house, from the pattern making to cutting, stitching, colouring and then the sawing process, Eileen supports local craftsmen, and are giving economic growth to her community. This way of doing production also supports craftsmanship that in many ways is about to be forgotten.
Reducing waste with Made to Order
Eleen focuses on highly innovative patterns, reducing the waste to the max. This product is made using zero waste pattern design and leaves no off cuts. All items are produced, on demand, not before you order them, which also saves the environment from overproduction
By producing in small batches and on demand, Eleen is part of the new way of thinking production, where we do not overproduce. When ready, the piece is hand dyed, polished and edge finished individually using only as much dye and finish needed, minimizing any unneccesary waste.
Reducing waste with upcycled raw material
This garment is made of upcycled fabric from previous collections.
Low carbon footprint
By doing her production at site locally where she is situated, Eleen reduced her footprint in regards to travel miles in regards to the production process. The raw material of this product is however not produced locally.
Low toxic
The small amount of chemicals used in the colouring process is treated in a controlled manner where use is kept to a minimum and treated in a controlled manner where no chemicals run out into the agricultural landscape, and everything is stored and disposed in a proper manner.
